Located in America’s #1 most diverse city, Gaithersburg
Presbyterian Church is part of a larger initiative started by the Fuller Youth Institute to work on a concept
called "Sticky Faith." ("...develop a deep,
growing faith in kids that “sticks” and continues to mature long-term.")
It involves working to keep those youth active in church still active as they
age, passing on one's faith to the next generation. (See 2 Timothy 1:5.)
As part of the ongoing effort, this week's sticky faith challenge
is to:
1. Consider as a family donating one item each to a local shelter
or rescue mission that help distribute clothes, toys, and certain necessities
to those in need.
2. The challenge is for each family member to choose something
that they would actually wear or use.
3. Discuss with your kids why it’s Christian to give away something
they value for themselves. Keep in mind, they have permission to say “no”.
4. Hopefully they won’t and instead they’ll start asking
questions about what they really need.
5. Focus on the process of dropping off your donations
together.
