Christian Easter Sunrise Service

Before

After

Christians celebrate this day to commemorate the rising of Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ, into heaven after overcoming a  death. It is fulfillment of the promise that those who believe will only die to flesh and live on in a resurrected body. I chose the word "commemorate" because that denotes an event that really happened.

If you've never been to an Easter sunrise service, you should think about it for next year. It is a bit mystical, a bit awe-inspiring, and a bit sad.

This year Gaithersburg Presbyterian Church (GPC) joined with four other congregations, Epworth United Methodist, First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Gaithersburg, Grace United Methodist, and Truth and Life Pentecostal church. But as GPC Pastor Ted said "it is only one church." And that is to note. There is only one church under Jesus.

It was cold but the warmth of fellowship permeated the group. All we joyful and we all sang in harmony. That is the way it should be every minute of every day. Let's us bring that feeling with us until the end.

Amen.
